We work from a beautiful co-working space near Old St in central London. The office has a gym and showers, bike storage, free snacks and drinks, and a programme of social events.
About the Team
Our founder is Rachel Carrell, the former CEO of DrThom.com, the world’s largest online doctor service, which she grew to over 1.3m paying users in 3 countries. She’s an Oxford alumn, ex-McKinsey, a Rhodes Scholar and a WEF Young Global Leader. Rachel’s joined by an amazing team with backgrounds including Cambridge, UCL, BCG, KPMG, and some of London’s top startups.

About the role
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the policy and compliance aspects of our business. This means reviewing our current arrangements, identifying any gaps, and working to fill them. As examples… This person’s job is to make sure our insurance is always up to date, our HR systems are delivering what they should be, and safety is at the heart of our operations. It’s this person’s job to understand what the law says about what we do, and make sure we have written policies demonstrating how we comply. This person will work with specialists in various fields to understand what the requirements are, and then make sure we follow them. Sometimes this will involve writing a policy; sometimes changing the way we operate; sometimes setting up an internal system; and sometimes doing some training of our team. No two days will be the same, and it’ll be a fascinating and varied role taking in a wide range of aspects of policy and compliance.
This role could be part time or full time. We are very open to applications from parents who want to shape the timing around their own childcare requirements.
You’ll be the kind of person who really enjoys making sure that all the ‘i’s are dotted and the ‘t’s are crossed. The remit is wide, so you’ll need to prioritise your own work according to the areas of greatest need. This role requires judgement based on experience, so you’ve probably done something related before – for example, you might have worked in law, regulation, compliance or policy fields, either in a for-profit, non-profit or public sector capacity.
You’ll need to be a close reader of documents, precise with language, and good with nuance. You’ll enjoy researching, and you’ll be able to do it quickly and efficiently. You’ll need to be able to speak to people – inside and outside the organisation – to learn about norms and standards and formulate strategies. You’ll be able to identify places where we need specialist input, and then source and manage those specialists as required. You’ll have exceptionally high standards of integrity and ethics. You’ll be a good project manager, and you’ll understand how to align people around a solution, even where there might not be 100% consensus. You’ll enjoy learning about new areas of legislation, and creating very practical business solutions to problems. You’ll be pragmatic and practical. You’ll also be really positive and good to work with—you’ll find we are, too.
If you have some understanding of the childcare market (e.g. because you are a parent yourself) that could be really useful, but it’s not essential.
